This morning, I saw a deer and two fawns. So cute! They were walking across the street to over by the Costco warehouse in Issaquah.
I decided to start reading this book I got the other day called The Eyre Affair - by Jasper Fforde. The front part of the book had this quote from The Wall Street Journal "Filled with clever wordplay, literary allusion and bibliowit, The Eyre Affair combines elements of Monty Python, Harry Potter, Stephen Hawking and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But its quirky charm is all its own." Well, that intrigued me so I read more about it and it seems like it could be a fun read. So far, it's kinda weird, but I've only read about 6 pages.
Last night, I watched Last Comic Standing - I like the format they have this time in that the home audience picks who goes on and who doesn't, not a theatre audience. I only watched the first 6 comediens, and of those, I really liked John Heffron. I felt really bad for Ralphie though with his dad passing away the day before. :-(
My grandfather isn't doing so well. Apparently, his doctor has ordered Hospice to come to my grandparents home to help prepare him for what's coming next. :'-(
On a happy note, last night Jon and I were playing with Oliver. Jon had a piece of string that had something attached on the end of it. He was "walking" it along the floor and Oliver would come out from beneath the futon (we were downstairs) to attack it. After attacking it for a little bit, he quickly went back under the futon for another attack. So cute! But then it got cuter and funnier... Oliver one time came out from beneath the futon on his back as a car mechanic would come out from beneath a car. I just thought that was so cute and so funny!
Well, that's all for now...
I saw the following movies this weekend:
Waiting for Guffman - Didn't seem as good as other Christopher Guest movies I've seen, but there were parts that were funny. I still haven't seen A Mighty Wind.
Johnny English - Stupid movie, but what was I expecting?
We Don't Live Here Anymore - My first time at the Seven Gables Theatre - cute little theatre though the seats were very uncomfortable (at least mine was).
The movie was o.k. For me, it just seemed to drag on. It's hard to describe how I feel about this movie - the acting seemed stagnant to me which made the movie feel slow. I didn't really like Laura Dern's expressions in the movie - though I'm not sure if I've ever liked her expressions in any movie she's been in. I liked Mark Ruffalo in 13 Going on 30 though!
It was an interesting move to see on my 6th wedding anniversary without my husband, but with my friends and mom! ;-D Jon was over at Neptune watching Hero with my brothers.
One movie preview that I saw before We Don't Live Here Anymore that I thought looked interesting was Mean Creek...and I am intrigued by the movie "preview" for The Brown Bunny. Here's a link to the movie's website.
Books
I just finished reading Rachel's Holiday by Marian Keyes. I really enjoyed this book. I suppose it is considered "chick lit", but it really seemed more than the typical "chick lit" book. It dealt with the issue of being a drug addict, what it does to you, your friends, and your family, and what rehab is like. I previously read Marian Keyes short stories about her own life in her book called Under the Duvet which in one story she describes her own addiction to alcohol. She mentioned Rachel's Holiday in her story, which is when I first became interested in reading the book. I guess I liked it more because I know the person who wrote it actually had an addiction and has overcomed that addiction.
I'm not sure what I'm going to read next, I have many choices! I'll have to decide tonight. Any recommendations are welcome!
On a slightly different topic, I've got to remember to put a pen in my bag so when I'm at Barnes & Noble and I see a book that sounds interesting, but I can't or don't want to buy it at that moment, I can write down the name of the book instead of relying on my memory! The other night we went to Barnes & Noble - I found a couple books that sounded interesting that I wanted to add to my amazon.com wish list and I can only remember one of them! UGH!
CDs
I FINALLY got my Garden State soundtrack on Friday. I like most of the songs. There are a couple that bore me, but then there are a couple that I really like, including track 3 (In the Waiting Line by Zero 7) and track 12 (Let Go by Frou Frou). After listening to this CD, I'll have to listen to more Frou Frou and The Shins to see if I like more of their stuff.
One of the tracks on the soundtrack is by Remy Zero who sings "Save Me" - the theme song to Smallville.
Alright, that's it for now. Until next time... :-D
So last night, Jon and I went to a going away party for someone that Jon works with (kinda). The party was at Tony Roma's. Jon had wanted me to come so he could "show me off", as he says. I told him that people were going to be disappointed when they met me because Jon had hyped me up too much.
Well, anyway, so we're in the restaurant and I've been introduced to some people there. I pulled a job announcement out of my bag to show Jon. When he was done looking, I went to go put the piece of paper back into my bag. As I was doing so, I leaned down and my hair decided a good place to go was inside the candle sitting right on the edge of the table to my right. So my hair caught on fire. I hit my head a couple times and put out the fire - thank God I don't use hairspray. I quickly moved the candle away. Well, I quietly told Jon about it, and said I hoped no one noticed.
No luck. About a minute later, Jon's car pool buddy asked me if my hair was on fire. Then the two people to either side of her were saying, "you're hair was on fire?!?!?" I quietly responded yes. Well, then someone comes over and says, "what's that smell? It smells like someone's hair is on fire." I respond quietly, "that would be me!" as I raised my hand. Well, news spread or people saw this happen - so I turned bright red. I said to everyone, "so much for no one noticing. Haha!"
What a GREAT first impression that I made!
***End of funny story - on to a completely different story about last night***
Oh, and while we there, a woman named Tori said she remembered Adam from working with him a while ago and that she loved working with him. She asked if Adam still worked at that "online coupon place" (her words). I told her no and said that he was elsewhere. She was also telling a story about Sarah that I didn't hear and that she remembered Sarah lived in the Netherlands. She also said she remembered a couple working at McMahon in which one person was fired or quit and then the other one quit. I asked her if that was Joby and Alyssa she was talking about, and she said yes. It's interesting to find out what people remember about you.
Oh, and Tori's daughter looks like Melissa Gilbert.
Today I learned that another employee that I talk to occassionally is now pregnant with her first child at the age of 39. She was saying that she and her husband have been trying for 15 years and it finally happened for them. There was nothing wrong with her husband or herself, so they weren't sure why they weren't getting pregnant. They tried 2 different fertility clinics. They recently decided to "take a break" and she got pregnant when they weren't "trying" and without any kind of drugs. That's a great story to hear - I just hope that it doesn't take anywhere close to that long for me.
Lately, I've been posting messages to others on this website with others who have tried Clomid and/or are just trying to get pregnant. It's nice to have some support from people who are going through the same thing.
I go back to the doctor on 9/16 to go over the laparoscopy and to determine what to do next, if anything.
Aren't you excited? Huh? Huh? I know you are. ;-D
Last night, I watched the last 2 remaining movies that I had rented - they are Alex & Emma and Intolerable Cruelty. I liked them both...though I don't think either of them are movies that I'll want to watch over and over again.
I usually don't like George Clooney, but I liked him in Intolerable Cruelty.
So I was just looking at The Filthy Critic and there are more movies that I've wanted to see, but I haven't seen them yet. (I don't think I put this on my other list, but I may have).
200 Cigarettes
American Psycho
Anger Management
Before Sunset
The Big Bounce
Butterfly Effect
Igby Goes Down
I Spy
The Italian Job
The Kid Stays in the Picture
The Quiet American
Smoke Signals
Y Tu Mama Tambien
Garden State soundtrack - apparently, everyone is out of copies, including amazon. UGH! Speaking of Garden State, I was just reading Zach Braff's blog, and he's funny...at least, I was amused.
There's a movie he talks about on his blog called Lovely and Amazing - I noticed that was on HBO On Demand the other day and it looked like it could be good, so I may watch it sometime before it goes off On Demand.
I watched Along Came Polly and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days yesterday- they were o.k., but not that great. Oh well.
I went back to Silver Platters today because one of the employees there told me that they would have more copies of the Garden State soundtrack yesterday. Well, apparently, he lied, they still haven't got any. Ugh! So I ordered it from amazon.com.
While we were at Silver Platters, I found this CD - the Future Soundtrack for America - seemed like it has good songs on it from artists I like, so I decided to get it. So far, I think I might like it, though it has a song from Tom Waits and Sleater-Kinney on it. I'm not really a big fan of theirs.
Hmm, I didn't know this until I was looking for a link to the CD above - there are CDs called Rock Against Bush, Volume 1 and Volume 2. These might be o.k. - maybe. A band that my brother really likes is on Volume 2 - Flogging Molly. They're fun to listen to.
Last night, I watched Kill Bill, Volume 1. It was o.k. - there was a lot of blood - the fights and the blood spewing everywhere was definitely cartoonish. I wasn't expecting the little bit of anime in the movie. I need to see the 2nd one now.
Today, we went to go return some movies we rented and rented some other movies. Jon wanted to see this movie called The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra - if you like really bad acting and a really bad script (both on purpose) to make fun of old sci-fi movies, then this is the movie for you. I did fall asleep during parts of it, but the parts I did see were so bad that they were funny. I actually think I would recommend this movie - if you are into watching movies that are so bad, they're good.
Oliver - He's so funny sometimes. The poor guy was chasing after an aluminum foil ball today, and not once, but twice, he ran right into the glass door of the tv stand as I was trying to clean things up. I felt so bad, but he just shook it off and went around the door and after the ball.
Phone Calls - I got one phone call this morning from my boss asking me how I was doing, another one this afternoon from a coworker asking me how was doing, then I got a call a little while later from the nurse to see how I was doing. That was nice that they all called to check up on me.
I complained that I wish the shoulder pain would go away, my boss said it took about a week for it to go away for her. GREAT! The nurse said it should go away by tomorrow. We'll see.
Work - I'm not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow b/c laying flat on my back really does help the shoulder pain, but I've been getting a little bored with laying on the couch all day (well, most of the day). Hopefully, things go well tomorrow. We've got a department picnic tomorrow, so I have to go for the free food. ;-D
Garden State soundtrack - I decided that I needed to get out of the house, so when Jon came home with the car, we decided to go search for this soundtrack. We tried Best Buy (Northgate), Silver Platters - we even went up to the Best Buy in Lynnwood and the Sam Goody in Alderwood Mall - everyone was sold out!!! Silver Platters said that they may have some more tomorrow.
All this driving around really bugged my tummy and my shoulders - so I probably shouldn't have gone out, but I was tired of being at home. But I'm also not so sure how long I'll be able to stand being at work tomorrow. Hopefully, the nurse is right and the shoulder pain will go away. The shoulder pain hurts so much more than the tummy pain.
Speaking of the Garden State soundtrack, some people commented on amazon.com that if you like the Garden State soundtrack, you'll really like the Wicker Park soundtrack. Seems like it could be good. Kinda curious about the movie now too - I think I heard about it before. Hmm, it has two of the actresses from Troy in it (Rose Byrne and Diane Kruger).
I thought Troy was a good movie - not great, but good. Eric Bana as Hector was good.
Last night I watched 50 First Dates (I didn't fall asleep!) and today (so far), I've watched 13 Going on 30 and Freaky Friday. My review for 50 First Dates has some spoilers in it, so read at your own risk. Plus, I ramble on about songs.
50 First Dates - this was a cute movie. I enjoyed it. The only part that kinda bugged me is the end when Drew Barrymore's character wakes up and watches the video explaining she has short term memory loss because of an accident, and then goes up to the top of the boat and finds out she's a mother. However, when she's pregnant (which they didn't show), wouldn't she notice the belly first before seeing the video and freak out? I suppose she kinda mentions this when she breaks up with Adam Sandler's character. Anyway, I liked the movie. I also liked the song they played at the end which is IZ's version of Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World.
13 Going on 30 - I really enjoyed this movie. I can see why Zoe watched it many times. ;-D Jennifer Garner played a good 13 year old. And I have to say that Mark Ruffalo was kinda cute in this movie. I enjoyed a lot of the music that they had in the movie.
Freaky Friday - This one I wasn't that excited about, but it was an o.k. movie. The little kid was cute.
Apparently, one of the songs on the 13 Going on 30 soundtrack is also on the Freaky Friday soundtrack.
Speaking of the soundtrack, Lindsay Lohan has a good voice. I like the Drama Queen song she sings for the Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen movie (which I plan to watch next).
She has a better voice than Hilary Duff . Actually, Hillary's sister (Haylie) has a better voice than Hilary. (Apparently, Haylie is in Napoleon Dynamite).
I just saw a video in which the Duff sisters do a remake of The Go-Go's "Our Lips are Sealed" for Hillary's new movie, A Cindarella Story (which has Chad Michael Murray - the same guy that was in Freaky Friday).
Now, there's a video on from Kelly Clarkson (the 1st American Idol winner) - the song is called Breakaway - I kinda like that song. It's from The Princess Diaries 2 movie (Jon really likes the review The Filthy Critic gave this movie). The soundtrack to this movie also has a song from Norah Jones and Lindsay Lohan.
Alright, I suppose I should stop rambling on. Plus, it's really hot in this upstairs room (the "loft").
Jon went to go rent some movies for me yesterday after he brought me home, and Jennifer brought over some as well (thanks Jennifer!). I'm watching the rented ones first since they need to go back soon, and they include...
Cheaper by the Dozen - o.k. movie, I suppose. It wasn't that great, but I've learned (well, actually, I knew this stuff already) that 12 children is way too many, and it would be cool to be a mom to at least one child.
Identity - not a good movie. It has a little twist, but it didn't make this movie any more interesting. I may feel this way because I had to keep pausing it or rewinding it b/c I kept dozing off, but I don't think I would've liked this movie anyway even with John Cusack being in it. And no, Joan Cusack was not in this movie.
Master & Commander - O.K. I really can't give an opinion on this movie b/c I slept through pretty much the entire thing. Jon said I probably wouldn't have liked it and I'll probably just take his word for it. The parts I did see just didn't grip me.
Now, I'm going to go watch 50 First Dates - I hope it keeps me awake b/c I really feel sleepy right now and I should wait to go sleep until a little closer to my normal bedtime.
Tomorrow, I'll watch the movies Jennifer brought over. :-D
I checked in for the laparoscopy at 11 a.m. on August 17.
They called me to around 10:55 to go back to where the OR was. There was another woman there who apparently had just come out of the OR fairly recently. She was awake and complaining of cramps, dizziness, and feeling nauseous. She apparently had a DNC, but hearing all about this only made me freak out even more. After I had changed and I was waiting to go into the OR, I just felt on the verge of tears because I was just too nervous. I had been knocked out before (when they took out 2 of my wisdom teeth), but I had never been cut open, not even for the kidney stone where they used a laser. I think that was the part that freaked me out the most.
The nurse called me to walk into the OR and lay down on the table. The anesthesiologist, who had previously introduced himself, was a very nice guy and funny too. He apparently noticed my nervousness and tried to make me feel at ease by being a jokester - it worked. When he was putting in the IV, he asked, "Can I open my eyes now?" and I looked over and his eyes were closed, and I said yes. He said that he didn't like to look when he was putting in the needle because he was afraid of needles. I told him he was in the wrong profession if that was the case. He then told me that the water/saline/whatever it was was my breakfast. I told him it looked really appetizing. They also put some pads on me to monitor my heartbeat and a blood pressure thing to monitor that. It was weird to have the blood pressure thing work automatically by itself every few minutes.
Once he started to sedate me, he put on an oxygen mask and told me to breathe normally into the mask. I remember taking two breaths in and next thing I know they're telling me it's time to wake up. They had brought me into the other room I first came into. They asked me how I felt, and I told them I wanted to sleep some more. I also told them that I didn't feel as bad as I thought I would, but they told me it was because I had a fair amount of drugs in me. Great, so any minute now, I'll feel as bad as the woman before me?!?!?
They went to go get Jon - by this time, it was around 12:30 (I asked) and Jon wasn't there. I had told Jon that I would be able to leave by 1:30 so I told them he might not be back until then. Luckily, though, they had told him I would be out by 12:30, so he came back shortly after the nurse went to go get him the first time. I was glad that he was there at 12:30 - I wanted the company though I desperately wanted to fall back asleep.
The doctor came over to tell me what she had found - basically, some of what I already knew and some I didn't. She showed me a picture of the inside of my body. There was no endometriosis (which surprised me b/c I was sure there would be some) and that the left tube was fine, but the right one (as I knew) was not. The dye didn't come out of the right one and there was something that was supposed to be in one place was in a different place and that's a problem - she said she had never seen that before (that just made me feel great
However, as long as I don't ovulate just out the right side, I should be able to get pregnant. I asked her how she would be able to tell that, and she said through ultrasounds. She said that now they know what the problem is they know what the next step should be. I'm supposed to go back in 4 weeks to discuss things.
Now, I'm still in some pain in my tummy and in my shoulders, which apparently is common. I've been taking vicaden (sp?) every 3 hours or so (except at night) to help with the pain. The drug makes me extremely sleepy, so I keep falling asleep - though I've managed to stay awake to watch a couple movies (which I'll talk about in my next entry) and to finish watching the 3rd season of The Sopranos. I should be able to go back to work on Friday, though I plan to drive in that day in case I need to come home - but that means I can't take any of the Vicaden b/c it make me sleepy, so I'll just have to take Advil or something if need be.
I'm glad it's over and my doctor now knows what we can do to get pregnant.
Laparoscopy - I know I've been writing about this a bit, but it's on my mind.... Tomorrow is the laparoscopy day - I am getting really nervous about it. A coworker of mine told me to try not to think about it, but I'm having no luck. She asked me to call her to let her know how it went if I feel up to it.
CDs - Yesterday, while I was shredding some stuff, recycling some stuff, and trying to clean up the upstairs room some more (I really wish we would stop getting so many credit card offers in one day), I was watching MTV on digital cable. A video for Black Eyed Peas came on - it was "Let's Get it Started". I like that song.
MTV said it was on the Elephunk CD - I have this CD and I didn't remember it being on there. Well, it is, but it's called "Let's Get Retarded." I would much rather have the "Let's Get It Started" version on my CD.
Well, today, I went to Target at lunch, and they have a new version of this CD out with a bonus track of "Let's Get it Started." UGH! I don't have receipt anymore so I can't take it back to get this new one. That's just annoying.
I went to go see this movie last night, and I really liked it. I'm glad that the hype I had heard/read didn't ruin the movie for me. Also, I really like the soundtrack, so I may have to go buy it sometime.
There was a preview to "We Don't Live Here Anymore", and it looks like it could be interesting. There was another movie preview that was shown last night in which the movie looks interesting, and, of course, I can't remember what it is.
Yesterday, I went to the Camlann Medieval Village. Overall, I wasn't that impressed with it. Though the people I went with seemed to enjoy it a lot.
The first thing that we watched was the tournament in which the Ward Anna would choose a husband from the men who were fighting in the tournament. There was sword fighting, catch the ring on the stick while riding a horse, jousting, and some other competitions. It was o.k., though I suppose I wanted to see more jousting along the lines of "A Knight's Tale". ;-D They barely even did any jousting.
And the acting was HORRIBLE. I had to turn away and look at the donkey or look over at the black horse tied to a tree to occupy my mind so I could try to not listen to the "acting." Plus, it was obvious from the bad acting Anna was doing (I was paying attention at this point) that Anna wasn't going to pick one of the younger guys (one of which, Carl, was kinda cute), but was going to pick the chubby guy.
After the tournament, we went to the "Bors Hede Inne". First, the server brought a bowl and told us to put our fingers over the bowl. She then poured water over them. After that, she took our order. We were given some cheese (one of which smelled so BAD), pears, and apples. That was o.k. Then she brought us our plates (which was half of a loaf of bread) and our meals. The others chose to have this pork, almond, and strawberry thing in one small bowl that they had to share. It just looked nasty. I ordered this potato, onion, and turnip dish (and it came in an even smaller dish). The sauce was o.k., but eating the potatoes made me feel nauseous - which is too bad because the potatoes are the reason I got the dish. So all this ended up costing $47 for the four of us - for mostly icky food and very little of it (which I suppose wasn't much a problem).
After that, we started to wander around. Jon and I sat and listened to some musicians. One of the musicians looked around 15, and seemed to have a scared look in his eyes even when he was smiling. The music was entertaining. After that, Jon and I listened to this sword maker guy talk about the art of the sword fight and how movies and plays have stupid moves, including the turn around move that I've seen in a few movies. That was o.k., but we had already seen most of this before the tournament started, so it didn't seem as interesting as before - though my interest level on the art of sword fighting was already pretty low.
Then we heard of a magician playing near the Bors Hede, so we headed in that direction. That guy was very entertaining and funny. Though I've seen these tricks a zillion times, he just made it fun to watch him. And he was great with kids. He had brought up a couple kids to help with the "ring trick", and he asked one of them to take the rings apart and the other kid to put the rings together while he had his back to them. The kids caught on very quickly, and just exchanged the rings they had in their hands. I have to say the magician was probably the most entertaining part of the Camlann part of my day.
After the magician, we started walking around again, and Kelly and Adam decided to shoot some arrows. I thought it looked like it could be fun, but I knew I wouldn't be any good at it, and I didn't have any cash left over (it cost $2 for 3 arrows) after eating at the Bors Hede. After Kelly and Adam were done shooting the arrows, we moved along further and started talking to the sword maker guy again. He started talking again about stuff that I had already heard 2 times already. So eventually, I wandered off and went to go watch the juggler who was juggling 3 fire sticks at the moment. At this time, I was also not feeling so great - I probably was a bit dehydrated or still having caffeine withdrawal headaches.
The other three came down toward me after a while, and we watched a little dancing lesson before heading off to see the magician guy again. After he was done, we watched the sword maker guy again. After seeing him talk about this stuff for the 4th time, I kinda zoned out for a bit - though for a while I was watching the guy he was fighting with (Carl). :-D
Adam asked a question, and the sword maker guy asked him to come out onto the field so he could demonstrate to Adam some fight stances. Too bad I didn't have my camera - which I meant to bring with me.
That was the last part of our Camlann day.
All in all, I don't think I'll be going to Camlann again. I just wasn't that excited by it like others were. Though I might try another festival like this to see if that one might be better.
After reading an article about Friday the 13th, I was curious what birthdays of mine fell on Friday the 13th.
I was born on Thursday, September 13 (1 month away - whatcha getting me? ;-D )
It looks like I had my birthday on Friday the 13th in these years:
1974 - Age 1
Leap Year caused it to not happen again for a while...
1985 - Age 12 (sucky birthday - NO ONE came to my birthday party - I was very sad after that)
1991 - Age 18
1996 - Age 23
2002 - Age 29
And the next one will be:
Leap Year again makes it so it doesn't happen again for a while - but how scary that the next one will be
September 13, 2013 - when I turn 40 - Yikes!
Then in 2019, 2024, 2030, 2041
I don't know how it is that I never noticed this pattern before - I guess I never really thought about it. Starts 1974, then 11 years later, then 6 years later, then 5 years later, then 6 years later, then 11 years later, etc.
Just some things that have been irritating me recently...
Last night coming back from Siam, I needed to get into the right lane in order to get on the freeway to come back home. I put on my signal, and the person in their huge SUV actually speeds up rather than let me in. How nice! Luckily, this old white van in front of it was going slow, so I sped up and got in front of the it. Why are people so rude?
Speaking of putting on signals, do most people forget that the car manufacturers put this feature in cars for a reason? Other drivers will know what you're doing if you use your signals! Am I supposed to read people's minds on what they plan to do?
And another thing that is in a car that apparently people don't use are visors. The driver of the van today would rather lean a little bit to the right while driving than move the visor over to his window to shield him from the sun. I just don't understand.
Nor do I understand his driving choices - picking to go into the lane where 405 traffic is about to merge rather than the carpool lane or the left lane to get around a slow car/truck in the middle lane. Not only that, but staying in the middle lane (this morning) behind a RV that caused us to got 55 mph, rather than moving over to the left lane or even right lane (before 405) to get around the RV. Instead he waits until we get to the 405 merge point before he goes around the RV.
At least he doesn't drive like a person who's scared to drive like our 2nd backup driver. I'm not saying I'm a great driver or anything, but I just drive differently than they do.
Did I mention that one day the 1st backup driver got pulled over by the cops on our way to work in the van? The officer let her go with a warning, but she was going, according to the officer, 75 mph in a 60. That really wasn't irritating as much as it was embarassing for our driver.
Speaking of the people in my vanpool, someone in my van the other day was popping their knuckles. I don't know why, but that sound has always bugged me. To me that sound is like someone scratching their nails down a chalkboard. I try to ignore it as much as I can.
And one guy in my vanpool just walked by my cube and it reminded me that he wears WAY too much cologne. WAY too much. I found it really hard to breath this morning, and I had to be stuck in the middle between him and another person this morning. If there wasn't a baseball game today, there wasn't any normal Friday traffic, and Bush wasn't coming to town (whenever that is), I probably would have drove in today so I could leave a little bit early. Oh well - just another 4 1/2 hours left.
Last night, I went to Siam on Lake Union with Emily. It's a Thai restraurant. We ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and the Green Curry with Chicken. It was very good. I would go back there again.
The only bad part about last night was trying to find the place. I followed the directions that Mapquest gave me, and I could not find Fairview Avenue E. I found Eastlake Ave E though. I eventually found it with Jon's help (I called him for assistance). I really, really hate being lost or not being able to find the right street even though I know I'm in the vicinity of the street.
Anyway, if you like Thai food, I recommend Siam. They apparently have locations on Broadway and Queen Anne.
I really like watching The Daily Show. Apparently, other people do too. Jon Stewart is my hero at the moment.
Last night, I was watching the re-airing of the previous night's show, and Jon Stewart mentioned that they have a book coming out called "America (The Book): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction". I'll have to look at it when it comes out.
Apparently, Lewis Black also has a book coming out called "Lewis Black Has No Respect for Authority".
I saw this article yesterday on slate talking about Costco=Kerry and Wal-Mart=Bush. It's an interesting article...
To add to the list I posted on August 6 of movies I want to see (and there are a lot - I haven't rented a movie in a long time)... If anybody has a copy that they'll let me borrow or if you would like to watch it with me when someday I will rent it (or watch it On Demand), let me know. :-)

That's all for now. There are way too many movies that I'd like to see.
You know it's a good feeling when you call a government agency and speak to someone who says "about time you guys are opening a location around here." Once before, I had someone ask me if we were ever going to open a store on her side of the state - at the time, no, but possibly in the near future!
I watched "Growing Up Gotti" last night, and it was not what I expected. It's like "The Anna Nicole Show" or "Newlyweds". I guess expected more about what it was like for the daughter of John Gotti growing up having him as her father. It's more about what it's like for her being a single mother with 3 BRATTY kids. Those kids are SO SPOILED.
I just got a call from Time-Life Books. I don't know how many times I've asked them to stop calling me! Ever since I ordered those Beavis and Butthead DVDs for Paul for his birthday, they keep calling me to ask me how I like the DVDs. Each time, I say it was a gift and to please stop calling me! They don't listen! UGH!
Well, that's enough for now. My lunch break is now over. :-(
I went to the doctor yesterday for a pre-op appointment for the laparoscopy I was to have on Wednesday. Unfortunately, my timing is all off and it can't be done tomorrow. Fortunately, the doctor will be in the office a couple days next week after all (she was to be gone from the 12th-22nd), so the procedure is now scheduled for Tuesday, August 17 at 11:30 (11:00 check-in). Hopefully, the timing works out a little better this time - not that I want to have this procedure done because of the pain associated with it, but I also want to find out what's causing my problems sooner rather than later.
My doctor (at least my doctor for this issue) was telling me that they will knock me out, the procedure will last about 1/2 hour (but I should be there about 1 1/2 hours unless they find something really wrong), and I should take the 2 days after the procedure off from work - which means I have to fill out some form for a temporary medical leave since I'll be gone for 3 days. Another thing she said to me is that I can't have anything to eat or drink from midnight on. Now that the procedure is at 11:30, that isn't as big of a deal, but when it was at 1:30, that was going to be difficult to not have anything to drink or eat for 13 1/2 hours - more so with the nothing to drink part.
Anyway, that's what's going on with that.
The lights just blinked - not that it will make a huge difference if they go out - the generator will turn them back on and I've only got 27 minutes left.
My family is going to see The Producers this September over in Spokane. I'm thinking about going, but the tickets are $60 something - that's a bit too much, especially since I'd like to go to see The Lion King when it plays here this fall/winter.
Anyway...
So I was just thinking of movies that I'd like to see...here are a few... (most of which seem to be based on books)
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events - looks like it could be good. I enjoyed the books o.k. I've only read the first 3 books though.
The Lovely Bones - I really liked this book. It was well-written, so hopefully the movie will be good too.
The Forgotten - Saw a preview of this the other day - it looks like it could be a good movie.
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason - I enjoyed both of the Bridget Jones books and the first movie - plus, Colin Firth is in it.
Of course, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire!!!
Napoleon Dynamite - looks interesting...
Meet the Fockers - I enjoyed the first one, so this one has a good chance of being funny.
O.K. Change of topic for a moment - it's very cold in here! I'm freezing. I don't have any more layers to put on me!!!
Movies I'd like to rent or watch sometime (sorry no links!)
13 Going on 30
The Stepford Wives
Along Came Polly
Kill Bill, Vol. 1 and 2
The Passion of the Christ
Hellboy
Cold Mountain
Mystic River
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
City of God
Bowling for Columbine
50 First Dates
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Freaky Friday
I'll have to add more later - it's actually time to go home now - well, actually, I've got 5 more minutes, but I need to go get my lunch leftovers. :-D
I really don't have much to say today. I just don't have anything to do at work for the next 1 1/2 hours (it's currently 3 p.m.). I'm waiting on people to respond to me and I don't think it's going to happen anytime today.
I really don't have much planned for this weekend - possibly go see the Blue Angels on Sunday - maybe get some yard work done tomorrow.
I want to go see Garden State, but I can't find that it's actually playing in a theater near me. :-( Apparently, the expansion into new cities does not include Seattle. :-( I keep looking to see when it might actually open here - but I've had no luck.
Hmm, Zach Braff has a blog
Had to take time to read that for a bit.
Ralph Fiennes is going to be "He Who Must Not Be Named" - interesting choice - that might actually be good.
I'm supposed to have a laparascopy next Wednesday, but that may not happen now. The timing has to be just right, and timing doesn't seem to be working with me. So I may have to wait until later this month or even into next month - possibly around my birthday. I really hope that it doesn't happen around my birthday. I'm supposed to find out for sure what's going to happen on Monday afternoon.
On August 29, Jon and I will have been married for 6 years. Yay!
My brother-in-law is having back surgery on August 12.
My nephew doesn't have more kidney stones after all - it's actually an infection that apparently looked like a kidney stone on the ultrasound.
My cousin welcomed his 4th (yes 4th) child into the world yesterday - her name is Bailey Kay.
My back is just killing me this week - it feels like I need to pop my back. I just want to lay down on my comfy (relatively) new bed so badly. I'm considering an acupuncturist or a chiropractor or a massage therapist. Not sure what yet, if anything. I hate getting old.
Ugh, I still have another 50 minutes.
I went to go see The Village the other day - it was o.k. - I still like The Sixth Sense the best out of all of M. Night's movies. I saw The Bourne Supremacy too - that was good - I enjoyed that one - though the car chase scene was long and I really disliked the shaky camera work. (Hmm, the poster for this movie makes Matt Damon look weird).
I hadn't seen The Bourne Identity before seeing the 2nd Bourne movie, but it was playing on Channel 529 (?) the other night, so I watched it (thanks to Alyssa for informing me of this). That was a good movie too. I read on imdb.com today that Matt Damon is only going to do a 3rd movie if the script is good - umm, wouldn't you want to do any movie only if the script is good?
Good news to those of you who hate sports - Seattle has lost out on a bid to get a Major League Soccer team.
Well, until I can think of more to write about - that's it for now. :-D
