Lost three shows

Alrighty…I wish I knew more about philosophers. The cast of characters has four named after philosophers, Locke, Hume, Burke, Rousseau. Is there a connection between the philosopher and the character? And for giggles, well just say that Dr. Jack Shepard is taking the Jesus role of the Good Shepard. Hey, he sacrificed himself for his friends, he can work miracles on the surgery table. So, mix up a bunch of Enlightenment thinkers, and Jesus, and what do you get?

spoilers follow

“Not in Portland”
Julie’s husband killed by bus. How convenient. Yes, it hints like a hammer that the DHARMA Initiative is powerful. How about a little subtlety, Julie’s husband suddenly dies of something very mysterious. And DHARMA people visiting her in the morgue. Come on!

“Flashes Before Your Eyes”
Is there free will? “The universe has a way of course correcting.”

“Stranger in a Strange Land”
So, Jack’s tattoo means “leader, great man,…he walks amongst us but he is not one of us” and that makes Jack lonely & angry.

Maybe I just don’t grok the writer’s vision. Well…in the words of evil-Willow… “Bored now.” Maybe I should be reading some Heinlein instead.

V-Mars three shows

Regarding
“There’s Got To Be a Morning After Pill”

“Post Game Mortem”

“Mars, Bars”

spoilers follow....

I heard, that for “Toy Story” every frame advanced the story. I feel that these days for VMars it’s a lot of filler, very litter thriller, and the writers don’t care about the killer. I really should quit watching VMars, and instead, finally get around to watching “Toy Story”.

They killed Sheriff Lamb!!! Why? How does this improve the story? Lamb was a great part of the story, a big goober, a thorn in V’s side. One of the good things of the show was watching Lamb & Mars antagonize each other at every chance. Now, PapaLamb is gonna be sheriff by default! I may have to accuse the writers of laziness.

His Royal Highness: Prince

Just saw the Superbowl half-time show, featuring Prince. Well done.
I am continually amazed by the amount of talent he has.
Good vocalist.
Very good guitarist.
Excellent performer, producer & arranger.
But what he will be remembered as a genius songwriter.

Seriously, why hasn’t he ever won a McArthur Genius award? “…to individuals who show exceptional creativity in their work and the prospect for still more in the future.”
Oh yeah…Prince doesn’t need half a million dollars.
But I think he's just as genius as these folks. Maybe they could give him the honor, without the cash. Alright, let's nominate him!

Maybe…since he is making money and is popular, he isn’t respected as a real artist. That bothers me. I don’t much buy into the starving genius theory. Well, except for poetry, you can’t make money writing poetry. But, how did Mozart & Beethoven make money…they sold their compositions. Their compositions were popular. (Remember, Mozart, as an adult, only composed when there was a commission.)

VMars “Poughkeepsie, Tramps & Thieves”

boring

seriously, this episode can be missed, there is no real development in characters

good new euphemism for suicide “taking a bath with my blow dryer”

spoilers

So, the question of the episode, can you love someone despite their past?
V seems to love Logan, despite his wild-boy past…messing around while they were on a break.
The nerd boy can’t get past the love of his life was a prostitute.

(It’s only kinda related, last night I finally saw Hillary say rhetorically, “…and what in my past has given me experience to deal with evil men?” LOL)

Oh…did Logan fool around with the evil Madison? Doubt it. It was just tossed in as a suspense hanger.

Well…time for me to eat bacon!!!

While eating yummy bacon… I had a little train of thought.
The episode title, “Poughkeepsie, Tramps & Thieves” seems to be a reference to Cher’s “Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves”. And the episode & lyrics subject matter match. But was the melody even featured?

So why do they do this? Were the writers thinking, “we need something, hey, let’s do an episode off of a Cher song!” What the heck? Is a future episode “If I could turn back time”? Are the writers trying to drop cool flashback hints? Is Cher cool? Was Cher ever cool? Yes, we realize she was very popular. But cool? Do kids today even know who she is? I tell you what, it's a crying shame when the writers have to stoop to such gimmics.

I believe the song was also featured in the X-files, Season 5, Episode 5. To our younger viewers, the X-files was a show, way back in the 90s that was weird, kinda like a Lost for Gen-X.
